Shopify Product Image Pixels (2026 Guide)
Shopify product image pixels means width × height, not DPI labels from print exports. On the web, only pixel dimensions affect sharpness.
Short pixel cheat sheet. Full specs: Shopify image size guidelines.
Recommended pixel counts
| Use | Pixels |
|---|---|
| Product master (square) | 2000 × 2000 px target |
| Max Shopify upload | 4472 × 4472 px |
| Low-res warning zone | Under 1500 px on shortest side |
| Upscale target (Pixly) | 2048 px width when approved |
Why pixels matter
- Product zoom needs enough pixels in the master file
- Collection grids use CDN variants; weak masters look soft on retina phones
- DPI metadata does not change on-screen size if pixels are identical (see size vs resolution)
Check pixel size before upload
Mac: Preview → Tools → Show Inspector. Windows: Properties → Details. Or right-click CDN URL in browser after upload.
